Ronen Chen: Ava Dress

dress- Ronen Chen/ coat- Andrew Marc/ boots- BCBG

I've been obsessing over beautiful prints lately, now if you've followed my blog long enough you know I'm a bit picky when it comes down to choosing prints on dresses (or on any piece of clothing really)... so when I find a designer who can pull it off, I get quite excited. Its not so much that I don't like prints & patterns in general- because I obviously do, its more that it can be hard finding just the right prints for my liking- I tend to love those prints that when you look at them you encounter a certain type of simplicity towards the entire picture, so in terms of choosing prints I always look for that effortless print that flows but can still intrigue the eye due to its complexity that the color or material provide... its all about the juxtaposition really. All in all I do admire those designers who can do such thing, I've mentioned a couple in previous posts but today I want to mention a designer who does a really great job incorporating simple prints to his designs, and that would be designer Ronen Chen. The dress I'm wearing above is one of his designs from his A/W12 collection. The first thing that drew me to this dress was obviously the print on it, which captures a lovely combination of "autumn leaves" mixed together, I find this print quite intriguing, not to mention the color combination makes it that much better. What I love about this dress is that its quite versatile in the sense that I can wear it both during the fall as well as in the spring due to its light sheer material. Dresses such as these where they incorporate such interesting prints don't need much styling to them because they make for the entire look, the dress becomes the key piece that stands out, no need for any sort of accessory. At least for this dress I figured I wanted to keep the focus on that cool autumn leaf print, so there was really no need for anything else other than the infamous winter essentials to keep me warm such as a pea coat and some ankle boots (although you could certainly add layers to it, I opted for a rather semi casual look).
