Ode To The Basic Classics

dress- H&M/ coat- London Fog/ sweater- Urban Outfitters/ shoes- ASOS/ sunglasses- BYGONES

The more I try to add some color to my outfits the harder it gets (or so it seems). I never know how it happens either, I just always go directly for the usual grey, beige, and/or black combination...  and before I know it, its yet another outfit to which I happily end up wearing. I suppose that's the beauty of personal taste, just knowing what you like without ever over thinking it because you just know that you're bound to be happy with the result... which is exactly what happens with all the neutral pieces in my wardrobe, no matter which one I grab it seems to go well with whatever I choose to pair it with (it could also be my impulsive nature to go for a particular piece- but lets not get into that). Apart from personal taste, I should mention that the basic classic pieces which I can't rave enough about are the most important part of a wardrobe- for that very reason that they go perfectly well with anything you pair them with (and by basics I'm referring to your basic grey sweater, navy/black coat, oxfords, simple dresses, white tee's, etc). It is truly only the neutral basic classic pieces that are capable of creating that crisp clean look (and trust me, it never fails). But not to worry, bright color pieces or rather statement pieces will make an appearance at some point during the year, for now I leave you with a very standard look, as an ode to the basic classics.

  1. You've got great style hun! Wish there was a shot of you wearing those sunnies, they look cool. Nice shoes too, pointy's the way to go :) I've just did a "tutorial" post on the three main ways to work the shoulder bag strap + outerwear style, tell what you think ;)

  4. I think classic, neutral pieces are more mature and chic. I'm not a big fan of brights, and I agree with you that grey, beige, navy, etc. are lovely dressing colors. Your outfit looks so cozy! x
